Comme des Garçons Guerrilla Store Exhibition
It was a great honour for us when in 2005 Comme des Garçons asked us to run their Guerrilla store in Cologne. The Comme des Garçons guerrilla store +49221 opened on September 2005 in a former butcher’s shop – Neffgen – a family-run company established in the 1950s in an area of Cologne which is called Bermudadreieck. Konrad Adenauer, Germany’s first chancellor, was born in the neighbourhood.
Guerrilla Store +49 221 Customization: every two months, we invited an artist to produce works in order to change the look of original butcher`s shop.
The idea behind the Comme des Garçons guerrilla stores is to temporarily offer of interesting and creative selection of clothes, shoes and accessories in a completely new way: focus is not on season, trends, or interior design, but rather on the choice of goods, the spirit and energy of both shop and goods. The first concept store opened in Berlin on February 14th, 2004, then Barcelona on March 12th 2004, and Singapore on May 22, 2004. comme des garçons’ plan is to open guerrilla stores in exocentric, energetic and marginal areas all over the world.
